Save money on petrol and help improve the environment

Dundee Travel Active is helping to save you money on your travel costs and to improve the environment in our city.

The Scottish Government has provided Dundee City Council with funding to help promote less polluting travel options. By doing so, we hope to improve air quality and do our bit for global carbon emissions. We're working throughout Dundee to ensure that harmful emissions from vehicles are reduced.

Dundee City Council is modifying roads and junctions where these can reduce delays. Bus companies are investing in new vehicles to reduce their emissions. This page will show you how you can do your bit for the city's environment, and probably save money too!

Petrol up to 15% off

Most drivers waste money on their petrol or diesel. You don't need a new car to start saving: just drive more economically.

On average, drivers can save 15% on their fuel costs. How?

  • Change up gears early, so your engine works most efficiently
  • Drive more smoothly, anticipating road conditions ahead
  • Drive a bit slower; it's probably safer too
  • Reduce unnecessary drag from roof bars and boxes; take them off when you're not using them
  • Check your tyres, as underinflated tyres use more fuel
